About FreeAnime.xyz

FreeAnime.xyz is an independent anime encyclopedia and discovery directory. It helps you find out what an anime is about, who is in it, when the next episode airs, and where it is officially available. It is free to use and needs no account.

What the site does not do

FreeAnime.xyz does not host, upload, embed or link to unauthorised copies of anime. "Free" refers to the site: browsing, searching and reading cost nothing. Watching an anime happens on the official service you choose, under that service's own terms and prices.

Where the data comes from

Titles, synopses, dates, episode counts, studios, characters, relations, recommendations and artwork come from the public AniList (opens an external site in a new tab) API, a community-maintained anime database. Artwork is loaded from AniList's servers rather than copied. Pages are refreshed from AniList automatically, so corrections made on AniList reach this site within hours.

Synopses are shown as AniList provides them, with the credit AniList gives (for example "Crunchyroll"). The short "summary" paragraph on each anime page is written by FreeAnime.xyz, but only from AniList's recorded details: format, episode count, studio, source material, dates and genres. Character notes are AniList's descriptions with spoiler sections removed.

How streaming links are chosen

• AniList and MyAnimeList links use the exact entry IDs AniList records.
• A Crunchyroll or Netflix "title page" button appears only when AniList lists that service for that specific entry, and the link points to that service's own domain.
• Otherwise a clearly labelled "search" link opens the service's own search page. A search result does not mean a title is available.
• Availability differs by country. AniList does not record regions, so the site never claims a title is available where you are.

How lists and rankings work

Every list states its rule on the page, such as "sorted by AniList popularity" or "finished TV series with 10 to 26 episodes". Nothing is ranked by hand and no score on this site is invented: the scores shown are AniList's community averages. Titles that AniList flags as adult, and the Ecchi genre, are excluded from lists and search.

FreeAnime.xyz is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by AniList, MyAnimeList, Crunchyroll, Netflix or any studio or publisher. Their names are used only to describe where a link leads.
